Independent Senator Alice-Mary Higgins is running for re-election to Seanad Éireann (NUI Panel) as a strong progressive voice for equality, environment, public services and human rights.

Speaking at NUI head office today at the close of nominations, Senator Higgins said “The Seanad can lead debate and shape laws, the choices made there have a real impact on people’s lives.  I am seeking re-election as a strong voice on equality, environment, public services and human rights. I offer experience, passion, ideas and a record as a committed and effective advocate, connecting the detail with the bigger picture.” 

First elected to the Seanad in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, Alice-Mary has won over 70 changes to law and sponsored and co-sponsored 20 Bills including the Mandate for Nature Bill, Quality Public Procurement Bill, Arms Embargo Bill and Occupied Territories Bill.
